Donate Today: Make Skelly's Medical Care Paw-sible
Donation protected
UPDATE:
It's July 31, 2023 and Skelly was officially pulled from Animal Friends Humane Society and is now adoptable from Soul Dog Rescue to Colorado! Skelly is officially off the euthanasia list and is on to bigger and better things! However, we are still taking donations to cover his medical expenses. Thank you to everyone who has contributed—rescue matters!
Hi there! I'm Brooke, but better known as Skelly's foster mom. On April 16 we brought Skelly into our home from Animal Friends Humane Society. The shelter sent out a plea that they were at capacity so we decided to help and gained a new fur-friend, Skelly!
But there's more to dogs like Skelly. They arrive at the shelter without the ability to share their past. They’re hungry, weary of the new faces, in need of medical interventions, and ultimately a place to call their forever home.
These dogs also need forever medical care to maintain their livelihood. Daily medications and a special diet are essential because Skelly has dilated cardiomyopathy. A condition in which the heart muscle becomes weakened.
The sad reality: dogs with medical needs are often overlooked when it comes to adoption. So then what happens? Shelters have to face irreversible decisions every day across the country due to a lack of funding. Skelly's medication costs can only be covered through July, so donations are urgent.
But, dogs like Skelly have grit. They are resilient, fun loving, overly-affectionate and deserve home care for the rest of their dog days. They’re healing their traumas and learning to play again.
We want Skelly’s—and dogs like him—stories to have a happy ending. That’s when we reach out to ask for our community’s support. Shelters could not run without your care.
These contributions will keep Skelly’s dilated cardiomyopathy medication costs manageable for the shelter and his future adopter. This means, Skelly has the chance to be adopted and loved by his own family.
Animal Friends Humane Society (AFHS) needs your help so they can continue taking care of more than 5,000 animals every year. Their mission is to promote humane principles, to protect lost, homeless, abandoned and mistreated animals, and to act as advocates for animals in our communities.
Skelly says thank you for pawsing to read and share his story!
