This year will be my 4th year skate boarding in the 24 hour Miami Ultraskate, after missing a year while battling cancer.
This year, I’m skating in honor of Scott Burns. Scott was the beloved son of Glen and Chris Burns, who have been part of my life since our high school years. Scott tragically passed away at just 26 years old after bravely fighting stage three metastatic melanoma. During my own cancer treatment—and even after—Glen and Chris continually checked in on me, sent thoughtful gifts, and showed genuine compassion, all while enduring their own unimaginable journey with Scott’s illness. Their kindness never stopped, even in the midst of their heartbreak. In honor of Scott and in gratitude to this incredible family, I’m raising funds for the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center in Scott’s name. This is my way of paying that love forward and helping support the fight against cancer so other families may one day have a different outcome.
