Hello there, I’m Nakiya’h and I’m an undergraduate at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I’ve been skateboarding for more than 10 years now and I’m pretty advanced in performing tricks. Skateboarding has opened many doors for me through connecting with members of the it’s community. It also has been a very challenging and therapeutic outlet for me over the years allowing me to heal traumas and overcome my previous physical capabilities.

My mission is to give black and brown youth in my area the same opportunity and access to skateboarding as the Northside of Chicago. I’m starting up skateboard lessons in the Englewood neighborhood near Lindblom Park. These skateboard lessons will build upon a growing project called “Skate Englewood” which I started in the Spring 2023.

I collect new & used skateboard parts from Chicagoland skateboard shops and build complete skateboards to give away to youth for their lessons.

Any donations will contribute to purchasing skateboarding safety equipment , materials to plan and build DIY skateboard obstacles, arts supplies, and more skateboard parts and decks.
