Porter needs your help

Porter arrived in OMC foster care in April of 2022. He was found injured in someone's yard and brought in for treatment. OMC was contacted, and Porter entered our care with a damaged front leg that he could not use. After many vet visits and specialists, it was decided to remove the entire leg. Porter became a tripod. Test results showed he had a bone infection that ate away all the insides of the leg. Porter recovered and learned to navigate on three legs. He did well and was finally chosen for adoption. At the adoption clearance visit, it was discovered that Porter had a broken front tooth. His adoption was delayed, and Porter was scheduled for dental extraction and recovered again. Porter went to his new home, but he had some struggles and fell a few times. He was unable to move and went to see the vet, and it was labeled as a bruise. The painful decision was made to return Porter to OMC care. Porter has not gotten any better. He has severe pain and minimal mobility. He has been back and forth to OMC's vet while in OMC care. X-rays showed concerns by his hip joints, as well as something with the last lumber bone in the tail that connects to the spine. We do not know if it was fractured or broken in the falls since some time has passed since he fell. He could be healing. Porter is scheduled to see a Neurologist on 8/31/22. We expect they will want to do an MRI and possibly follow up with surgery. The estimated cost will be between $6,000-$8,000.

Porter is the absolute sweetest guy; all he wants to do is be near a human and cuddle. He is in so much pain that he cannot be cuddled or held. Porter deserves a break and we want to do all we can to help him live a pain free life.

This will be his 3rd surgery in 5 months.
