Im a single parent of four boys and about a half a year ago I was diagnosed with Metastatic Melanoma. After two surgeries to remove the cancer the bills became slightly more than I could handle on top of being a mother. With the melanoma and the treatments through Duke University, I had to take some time off work. As the treatments progressed, the side effects slowly worsened my condition, and have kept me out of work. Advised by my treatment team of doctors, if I were to recieve another treatment it would be extremely dangerous. I recently found out that the side effect I have been experiencing is a one in a million per year syndrom called Tolosa Hunt Syndrome. Tolosa Hunt Syndrom causes eye pain, blurred double vision, and headaches preventing me from going back to work as a medical assistant. As my treatment team struggles to find away to reverse the side effects I am having to take more time off work for more doctors appointments and tests than was originally planned. Without my steady income I am finding it difficult to keep up with my medical bills. Although I have an amazing emotional and physical support system, the financial burden that continues to add up has become overwhelming. Through this trying time I am renewing my faith in God, as I know he will guide me and everyone involved to make the right decisions.
