Hi there! My name is Genny. I’m a writer, yet this may be one of the hardest things I have written to date. You see, my amazing mom, Cindy, was diagnosed with breast cancer on November 20, 2019. It was, as I’m sure it is for nearly anyone diagnosed with such an awful disease, a huge shock. But my mom is a fighter with a vivacious spirit, and it’s that amazing attitude that helped her to thrive during her lumpectomy, radiation and her most recent surgery to place her port. But her biggest challenge is still to come...12 weeks of chemotherapy. But I know she’ll treat this journey like everything that has preceded it. With humor and the attitude of someone you'd never guess was diagnosed with cancer just a few short months ago. I know she will get through this with the same gusto as she approaches everything in life. But as anyone who has been ill knows, the stress from the mounting medical bills can be as torturous as the illness itself! And this is certainly the case for my mom. My dad passed away 6 years ago, and based on the life they created during their marriage, she hasn’t struggled as much as some. But she has struggled nonetheless. She is a single woman, working hard to make sure bills are paid and debt is kept to a minimum. But that can be challenging, especially as one gets older and medical bills seem to find their way into the mix more frequently. My mom is past retirement age and would love to be retired and fully enjoying this season of her life, but she cannot and I fear this will only make that goal far less of a reality. To that end, I am humbly asking for help in getting even a few of the expenses off her mind. Any amount will be appreciated so very much. I graciously thank you for taking the time to read my mom’s story. Even if you cannot donate, I am humbled you took a moment to read about my incredible mom and I wish you much joy!
