This is Elmo, my neighbor's dog. He was hit by a car on the morning of Tuesday, April 21. He suffered a fractured hip, some bleeding and a hernia, and he was left lying in the middle of the street, howling for help.
The car that hit him drove away, and my neighbors don't have the money to fix him up. Fortunately I was home at the time, and I rushed him to Riverview Animal Hospital in North Chattanooga, where he is resting comfortably and hopefully getting better!
Here's the good news: The vet says his injuries may heal on their own, so they plan to hold him for the next 10 days, monitor his progress, and see how he heals up.
The final cost of his care may be more than $500 or less, but for right now $500 should cover his stay. I appreciate your help and donations, as his owners can't afford this on their own! Let's all chip in and get Elmo back on his feet. He's a great little dog who's fighting hard to get better.
