Support for Rob Carrona & Family

It’s funny how a chance meeting can have such an impact on one’s life. A small group of commuters congregate every morning in the 1st car on the 7:00A train from Worcester to Boston.
One day I sat opposite this guy wearing a Ducati tee shirt and it wasn’t long before we struck up a conversation about motorcycles. That conversation, with Rob Carrona, which started about 3 years ago, was the beginning of a special friendship. Not many people can say they look forward to their morning commute but, in Rob’s company, many of us do!
Sadly I recently learned Rob has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and has just begun treatment. I am establishing this campaign to provide some financial support to Rob and Sally, and their children Matt and Phoebe. The past few weeks have been incredibly challenging for them with Rob being in hospital since December 29th.
Rob is a talented freelance draftsman and works incredibly hard for a marketing organization in Boston and a local home designer in the ‘burbs’
Since the onset of cancer he has been unable to work instead dealing with the higher priorities. Knowing Rob as I do I know he must be eager to get back to life, his family, and work.
Rob is just an amazing guy. He takes the time to talk to individuals, and is genuinely interested in hearing his or her story. Whether it is the lady in the coffee shop in Boston, or the attendant at the gas station in Bolton, or the guy that runs the power wash place off I-89 in NH – everyone knows and has time for Rob. Maybe it’s his smile, or his positive attitude, or because he’ll go above and beyond to help others. Ask anyone to describe Rob and the response is always the same ‘wonderful guy’, ‘big hearted’,'authentic', ‘would do anything for you’ and so on.
Many of us ,including his close family and friends, feel helpless sitting on the sidelines waiting for the daily updates. Thankfully, his sister-in-law Helen and childhood friend Rob, have been kind enough to keep us in the loop and help offload Sally from the barrage of text messages. I hope this campaign provides an avenue for friends, work colleagues, and anyone else who knows him to help out in some small way. All funds raised will go directly to Sally and Rob to do with as they see fit such as medical expenses, ongoing household bills, and general expenses.
Thanks in anticipation for your thoughts, prayers and generous gifts!
Let’s see what we can do as friends to help pull them though this challenging period!
