The campaign to keep coal out of Oakland has become Keep Coal Out East Bay as we work with our allies across the Bay Area (and in coal-producing states) to assure that coal will never be shipped from our waterfront.

President Trump's announced $75 million to build a marine terminal in West Oakland does not begin to cover the cost of this terminal. We expect to deter prospective investors by the extensive community opposition visible in our yard and window signs. Their new design reflects the truth that it is our community, together, that will prevent toxic coal from defiling our city and savaging the health of residents and workers.

We have submitted a letter to the Bay Area Air District outlining safety regulations they should impose if developers apply for permits, many of which were offered years ago by the developers. This has been signed by over 1500 individuals and 50 organizations.

On Thursday, June 25, from 7 to 8:30, we will meet at La Pena to discuss our plans and recruit volunteers.

See details on our website, NoCoalinOakland.info, about this meeting, as well as the letter to the Air District. You can also request a yard or window sign on the website, sign up for our mailing list, and catch up on the history of the campaign.
