MacFarland Middle School's sixth-grade students are finishing up their very first year of middle school. Our sixth graders are a really special bunch: kind, respectful, and intelligent - approximately 20% of our students are already reading at a high school level!

We are planning an end-of-year trip to Six Flags to help celebrate their academic achievements and reward their continued excellent behavior.

This trip will be leveraged as an incentive for students to meet school expectations. By tying participation in the trip to our school-wide Mustbuck points and infractions, students will earn the opportunity to attend by finishing the year strong.

However, not all of our families can afford the $45 price. This is how you can help! We are asking our community, near and far, to help us pour into our promising young students. We want all students who earn it to be able to participate, regardless of family income.

At at a time when discussion around youth behavior and community involvement is at a high, we want to provide an opportunity for all students to feel supported and celebrated by their school community and greater Petworth and DC communities.
