Healing should be accessible to everyone.

For more than 27 years, Susanda Yee has been committed to making acupuncture more community-centred and accessible. In 2007, she founded Six Degrees, creating a shared space where people could receive acupuncture together at a price they could more easily afford.

Over the next 13 years, Six Degrees welcomed more than 5,000 people across Toronto. It became more than a clinic it became a community built around connection, rest and accessible care.

Today, Six Degrees is open again at 88 Nassau Street in Kensington Market.

The new space carries that original vision forward through community acupuncture and ear acupuncture offered in a calm, shared setting. Rather than receiving treatment in separate rooms, clients rest in recliners while the practitioner moves between them. This model allows several people to receive care at once and helps make treatment more accessible.

Reopening was an important milestone, but it was not the end of the work.

Susanda has personally covered many of the costs required to reopen and operate the clinic. Six Degrees is now rebuilding its client base, community partnerships, programming and financial foundation so that the clinic and the person caring for it can be sustained for the long term.

Our $30,000 campaign is helping with the costs of reopening and strengthening the clinic, including staff wages, operating expenses, renovations, supplies and community outreach. Donations provide a bridge while Six Degrees rebuilds consistent appointment revenue and works toward a more stable business model.

Part of the longer-term vision is to develop a sustainable pay-it-forward model through which community support can help make care more accessible. This model is still being thoughtfully developed, and we will share clearer details once the clinic has confirmed what it can responsibly and sustainably provide.

Six Degrees currently offers community acupuncture on a sliding scale of $40–$70, along with $20 ear acupuncture treatments. These services are designed to provide a more accessible way for people to receive care in a supportive, community-centred environment.
