Hello everyone.
I first want to thank you for taking an interest in what's taking place with my health and wellbeing.
I was diagnosed with diverticulitis last year June. After several flare ups and additional pain and discomfort it was discovered that there was a cyst on my ovary. On March 8th of this year It was determined that the cyst was cancerous.
I guess I can say the diverticulitis saved my life.
Had it not been for the flare ups, pain, and the discomfort I would have never known I had ovarian cancer. It has been recommended that I have a full hysterectomy. That will remove the ovary and any possibilities of the cancer spreading throughout the uterus. The gastrologist will take over and remove the part of the colon that has been damaged from the diverticulitis. As frightening as it is and shocking to hear the word cancer, I must say Dr. Stephanie Yap of Northside Hospital delivered the diagnosis and plan of action with such confidence she put my mind at ease.
My last day of work is April 12 for surgery on April 18th. I have to start prep for surgery on April 15th-17th with a special diet and procedure the day before surgery. I will be at Northside Hospital anywhere between 5 to 10 days after surgery and home for a 6 week recovery.
The six week recovery period will be very stressful for me. Although I have job security I will have no income to support myself and my sons Sincere and Johnathan. I admit it is very hard for me to set aside my pride to ask for help. I have always been a hard worker and pride myself on being independent. However, I am being completely transparent at this time because of the circumstances and I have to take care of my kids. Whatever contribution you can make will be greatly appreciated.
