Six Days Missing, Found Injured – Bentley Needs Your Help!

Donation protected
Hi my name is Catie, I’m helping my friend Shannon who is trying to raise some money to help her sweet baby Bentley. All money goes to her!

From Shannon:
On Tuesday, June 10th at 7:00 PM, I left my Bentley sitting on the couch eating his chewy as I took my Mama to see Andrea Bocelli. Bentley and our two cats have a doggie door so they can go potty. When I arrived back home at 11:00 PM, Bentley was gone! We called and searched everywhere.
In our backyard, we saw a possum. As it ran from us, it squeezed under one of our gates—through a trench the possum had dug without us knowing. That’s when we realized Bentley must have gone under the fence chasing the possum out of "his" yard.
In two cars, my Mama and I drove around the neighborhood until 1:30 AM looking for him—with no luck.
Over the next six days, we put up more than 180 laminated flyers on street posts, at gas stations, convenience stores, Family Dollar, churches, local veterinarians, PetSmart, bars—you name it. We talked to every person we could find, going door to door with the help of a wonderful neighbor. With the support of many friends—new and old—we flooded social media with Bentley’s flyer. I believe over a million people across Greater New Orleans and beyond saw it. I received many calls from kind strangers with advice, encouragement, and support.
But I also received cruel, disturbing messages from scammers. One said, “Which limb would you like to see first?” Another used AI to fake a photo of Bentley on a couch, likely trying to scam us for the reward. Others claimed he had been hit by an 18-wheeler and killed. It was truly awful. The enemy tried to break me—but failed.
Finally, on Sunday—after days of torment and anguish—we were reminded that God does not give us torment. That suffering came from a dark place. We had been praying, along with so many others, but we took it to another level. We didn’t just pray—we believed. We remembered that God gives us authority over all the power of the enemy.
That’s when my Mama heard the Holy Spirit say, “Man has done everything. Now it’s time to call in the big guns—God Almighty.” So we started thanking God in advance for Bentley’s return.
She went to the neighborhood park where Bentley played daily. She began praising, worshiping, and calling Bentley’s name, declaring that he would be back at “his” park again. She even felt led to march around the park seven times, casting out the evil. Just like God had the Israelites march around Jericho and the walls came tumbling down—she marched seven times, believing the evil would fall.
On Monday, we kept praising and believing Bentley was coming home today. At 5:09 PM, my Mama looked at the clock—it was Bentley’s dinner time. She put her hands on Bentley’s flyer and told him, “You will be home for dinner.”
Three minutes later, at 5:12 PM, I got the call. A man and his dog had found Bentley. He sent us legitimate pictures of our boy. Within five minutes, Bentley was in our arms. He still had his collar and ID tag, which is how the Good Samaritan was able to contact us.
What a mighty God we serve!
Bentley had been badly hurt. He wasn’t putting any pressure on his back leg. We rushed him to Metairie Small Animal Hospital, where he’s scheduled for surgery today. The vet confirmed he broke his tibia (the small bone in the calf) and will need a plate and screws to heal.
We strongly believe Bentley was stolen by very evil people. They clearly knew his name and our number—his tag was still on him. Our guess is, he had an accident in their house (likely no doggie door), and someone kicked him hard. That’s how the injury happened.
Now Bentley needs surgery. The estimated cost is around $6,000 and rising, depending on how long he needs to stay in the hospital. That’s a huge amount—but if these evil people had kept him or he hadn’t gotten away, he could have spent the rest of his life in hell.
We’re asking our friends, family, and community to pray about donating toward his medical costs. If you feel led to give, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. And if you’re not able to donate, that’s okay too—your prayers for a successful surgery and full recovery mean everything.
Thank you all so much for your love, concern, and support. Please remember: there is power in prayer, and God loves us so much.
