Hello friends and family. As you know, our dad, Siua Latu, unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, October 8, at Vaiola Hospital in Tongatapu of a hemorrhagic stroke. Although my three younger siblings, nine-month-old niece and I are in America, we find comfort knowing that he died with our mom by his side.
We are immensely touched by the overwhelming love and support since his passing. Many have reached out asking for ways to help and we figured this would be the best singular way to reach all those who desire to contribute. To honor my father’s wishes, his service and burial will be in Tonga. All funds will go to assist in getting my siblings and I to Tonga to bid our dad farewell and to help with funeral expenses. We truly appreciate the thoughtfulness and willingness to contribute in helping our family be together during this difficult time.
On behalf of my mom, Lisia, my grandparents (Siua’s parents) and the rest of my immediate family, we want to express our gratitude for all the prayers, written messages, calls, emails, and outpouring of love and support; we see it all. We cling to the Blessed Hope that we will see our dad again and to the promise Jesus left for us, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” Now we longingly wait for the Midnight Cry and that Great Reunion around the Sea of Glass.
Ofa atu,
Moi Latu
