I’m Sitha, and I’m from South Africa. I’m raising funds to pursue my dream of becoming a nurse through a one-year accelerated nursing program at the University of Rochester. For the past two years, I have lived in the United States as an au pair, caring for children while working toward my education and building a future far from home.

Getting to this point has taken a lot of hard work, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to pursue nursing. Nursing is deeply personal to me because my late aunt was one of my greatest inspirations. They were caring, compassionate, and always willing to help people who were vulnerable or in need. That example shaped the kind of person I hope to be and the kind of healthcare professional I want to become.

The program and related expenses cost approximately $96,000. As an au pair with very limited savings, I cannot manage this cost on my own. Right now, I feel overwhelmed and scared that I might not be able to make my dreams a reality.

Funds raised will help cover my change-of-status expenses and contribute toward tuition, room, and board. This support would make a meaningful difference by easing the financial pressure and allowing me to focus on my education instead of constantly worrying about how I will afford each next expense.
