Sisters Books & Nooks: Your gathering place

Greetings, all! We are Sisters Books & Nooks! Co-owned by Jamie Sharar and Sarah Danielson. We're opening a bookstore! But we don’t want to open just any bookstore. We want to create a unique, cozy and inclusive space for people to congregate, laugh, learn, and share their love of books. Our store will have a chic, dark academia vibe, filled with comfortable seating and nooks for you to snuggle in, chill out, and enjoy a new book during your lunch break or to escape your worries for an hour or two with a mug of coffee or a glass of wine. In these volatile times, we want to provide a safe haven for those who need it, especially to women, people of color, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. We will host small events where you can learn a new craft, talk to others with different interests and experiences, have fun playing trivia or other games, and enjoy a judgment free environment where our differences are celebrated and not demonized. Consider us your cisgender, heterosexual, child-free millennial aunties who want to provide something special to our fellow Iowans.

We will offer books for the romance, mystery, fantasy, horror, thriller and LGBTQIA+ genres as well as a small curated collection of children’s books. We will also offer reading accessories, apparel, home decor and other merchandise.

In addition, we want to support other local businesses by providing a space for local entrepreneurs without a storefront to showcase their products and services.

So here's where YOU come in. Any amount of help, every penny donated, will go to start up costs such as rent, inventory, decorations, furniture, marketing, and anything else we may need. Try to remember this is YOUR store, your place to gather. We are hoping to get your gathering place operational by September of this year! 2025!

Sisters Books & Nooks, LLC is a for profit organization and donations are not tax-deductible or eligible for tax credits. All contributions are made voluntarily and at the sole discretion and risk of the contributor. All funds contributed are donations and are not in exchange for shares in the business.
