Vicki has been through SO very much since July 9th. After months of issues she finally got the diagnosis no one ever wants to get: cancer. The dreaded "c word" (leukemia more specifically) has hit her very hard. Leukemia is a blood and bone marrow disease that prevents your body from producing red blood cells (blood) and white blood cells (immune system). She's been going through a very intensive treatment process. Living in Palm Coast, she has to go two hours away to Orlando for her treatments. These treatments require lengthy stays- weeks at a time only able to see her husband two days a week when he's off. Vicki had a very lucrative self-employed job, which no longer exists. They bought a new construction home last year- so their taxes are being reassessed now and due soon. Additionally, she needs to pay her healthcare deductible. She needs help, love, support and motivation to keep going with her treatments. This week alone she had chemo 6 times (every 12 hours) not including her two lumbar punctures (chemo in her spine to prevent cancer from going to her brain). One income is not covering her and her husbands bills. October 1st they'll do testing to see if she's in remission. Bone marrow transplant is set for November - hopefully there's a donor- I'm too old . I'll leave this very important text she sent me earlier today "Very fragile mental health. Cry easily. Lonely. Stressed. I just want everything to be ok". So do we sis, so do we.
