Sister Srey Cafe Covid-19 Relief Fundraiser

Sister Srey Cafe is a little cafe with a big heart nestled amongst the trees on the edge of the Siem Reap river in Cambodia. It’s normally a place to find good coffee and friendship, and for local Khmer students to find support, empowerment and education… but for the moment, that’s all stopped.
Like many non-essential businesses, in March 2020 we made the heartbreaking decision to temporarily close our beloved cafe in order to do our part in stopping the transmission of COVID-19 and ensure the safety of our staff, their families, and local communities.
As we are not a profit-driven business, we hadn’t planned or budgeted for the sudden stop of income, and it is now that our team needs us more than ever. The health and welfare of our staff has always been our number one priority, which is why we will continue to support them during this challenging time, with your help.
Whether it’s the price of a morning coffee, lunch, or perhaps a little more, please donate to support Sister Srey Cafe and ensure it has a future in a currently uncertain world.
MORE THAN JUST GOOD COFFEE...
In the 7 years that we have been open, we have sponsored staff through language classes and higher education, we support locally-owned businesses or businesses that have a positive impact in the community and we also contribute other charitable and environmental projects wherever possible. Over the past two years, we’ve been donating the majority of our profits to APOPO, a non-profit charity focussing on landmine clearance in Cambodia and the return of safe, viable land back to the local community.
We have always said that Sister Srey is a cafe with heart, with the desire to see change and the ability to do so. Needless to say, Sister Srey is more than just a cafe and likewise, our team are more than just staff, they are family. We see our cafe as a stepping stone to a brighter future and a means for our staff to have skills and knowledge to approach the world empowered and confident.
We understand that this is a challenging time for everyone, but please know that in this time of global crisis, it is impossibly difficult for the people of Cambodia. This is a country where resources and support are already incredibly limited and many of our staff members are not just having to think of themselves, but supporting entire families, too. These next few months will mean navigating uncharted territories for a lot of people, but for our staff, the unknown that they are facing has the potential to be even more devastating.
These next few months, and how we respond to them are crucial. That’s why we’re asking for help. Your support during this challenging time will help us ensure the survival of our cafe and the future of our team.
