My Sister Margaret and her fiancé Joey bought their first home in Paradise, CA in January. They have spent the last year renovating the home, and making it their own. It was beautiful!  Their plan was to get married on their property next fall, and they were working hard to get the home and yard ready in time. 

On Thursday morning, after hearing about the fire, Margaret and Joey drove home and grabbed their dogs, a load of laundry from the dryer, and left. They were among the group of residents that were trapped in Paradise trying to get out, and we lost contact with her for 5 long hours. 

When we we finally got word that they were out and safe, it was such a relief. Her story of driving through flames, Joeys mirror melting off and paint bubbling, all while worrying that she was going to suffocate or burn is heart wrenching . 

We we found out this morning that their home, and all the homes on their little lane are gone. They  are in a temporary home, but actively looking for a place to rent while they rebuild.
