Sissy Austin Recovery

My beautiful sisters world has recently come crushing down in a series of events which has resulted in her experiencing a severe mental breakdown and surviving two suicide attempts in the past 10 weeks

She is currently seeking professional support as an inpatient within a mental health ward.

For everyone that knows Sissy is aware how much energy she puts towards caring for others through her work as a paralegal support worker, being a kinship carer for our younger cousin and through her endless advocacy to enable grassroots community change.

My beautiful sister is experiencing severe burnout through her endless giving and  never asking for anything in return. She has had her world tipped completely upside down the last 10 weeks and I am putting this fundraiser together to take some of the pressure of her shoulders.

We have managed to pull together the funds to purchase Sissy an old caravan that needs some renovating / fixing and to make it like her little home for the foreseeable future. Other financial pressures we want to relieve her from are: lease break fee (she is no longer able to afford rent so has broken the lease), outstanding utility bills, ambulance bills, temporary need to cover loan repayments being direct debited that she isn’t able to pay at the moment.

At such a young age, my sister has a long road of healing in front of her. Any additional funds will go towards this journey of healing and self care.

My heart hurts knowing that we are incredibly lucky to still have Sissy with us. You don’t realise the impact of attempted suicide and mental illness until it comes so close. Any support to get my sister back on track  is deeply  appreciated by sissy, myself and our family.
