Sis's Fight

On June 21st, Our mom was taken to the hospital, after months of dealing with pain in her hip. While at work, she heard a pop which resulted in a break to her pelvic bone. After numerous scans and tests it unfortunately came back that mom has stage four metastatic lung cancer that spread resulting in a ten cm inoperable tumor on her pelvic bone. The tumor was putting an incredible amount of pressure on her bone, which resulted in the break.

This week we met with the oncology team at the PEI Cancer Treatment center where we were informed that the cancer is a very aggressive small cell cancer which doesn't give us many options for treatment and we were not given much time. Without treatment, the cancer could take mom within two weeks, and with treatment we could have up to six months to a year with mom. 

Mom will be beginning a vigorous treatment of chemotherapy on Monday. Fortunately, the doctor agreed to try immunotherapy after her first round of chemotherapy.  Unfortunately the immunotherapy costs around $10,000 per treatment, out of pocket, but we are willing to do anything to keep mom here with us as long as possible. 
We have already lost our father to this horrible disease, and we are heartbroken at the fact that we will lose mom as well. 
Our lives have once again been turned upside down, and would appreciate any help and support.
