Help Sirenitas Surf Club expand its girl-centered programming to empower girls and young women through education, surfing, and important life skills.

Sirenitas Surf Club is a girl-centered organization based in Tola, Nicaragua, which offers surfing lessons to girls between the ages of 10 and 18 years old. Sirenitas aims to create safe spaces for girls to empower them with confidence to overcome personal barriers they face while having fun exploring the ocean. Sirenitas’s educational model is in-depth and intensive with the goal of building meaningful relationships among a small group of participants. Sirenitas believes that investing in continued activities with a small number of participants offers a more complete experience for the girls they serve, creating a long-term impact in their lives. In addition to surfing and swimming classes, Sirenitas also funds scholarships for girls to learn English and other activities that support their growth. The girls also participate in additional educational programming focused on life-planning skills.

Sirenitas uses surfing as a form of therapy for girls to overcome challenges in their lives and become the best versions of themselves. The organization believes that in a world where girls often face adult-like challenges, creating safe and fun spaces for girls can be life changing. Sirenitas picks up each participant from their homes or school on a bi-weekly basis, taking them to surf at their local beach. Each session includes time for group meditation to allow girls to leave behind other stressors and be in community with other young women who share similar challenges. Surfing lessons complement Sirenitas’s overall educational mission. Sirenitas provides after-school support to supplement in-class learning, creates celebrational events to commemorate girls who graduate from school, and holds workshops to help girls explore potential career paths.

With your support, Sirenitas will be able to expand its surfing and educational programming to more girls. Additionally, it will develop and implement a new university and vocational training program to support girls who are pursuing a university education or vocational career. Sirenitas will plan and offer visits to university fairs, vocational programs, and share scholarship opportunities with girls. Sirenitas will also hold special workshops on career exploration, financial literacy, and finding mentorship through teachers and professors.

Sirenitas provides girls with safe spaces while empowering them through sports and supporting their education. Join us in creating waves of transformation, in and out of the water. Help Sirenitas support more girls through innovative programming and share this campaign with others!
