Sirena Baker's courageous battle with cancer

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Randy Baker, and I'm fundraising for my wife, Sirena. She was diagnosed on our 25th wedding anniversary on November 27th, 2018, with 4-stage colorectal cancer metastasizing to the lungs. She began her long journey at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. For the next year, Sirena did Chemo treatments and 25 radiation treatments. Unfortunately, it was not successful. In 2019 she underwent an extensive 10-hour surgery to remove cancer from sections of her colon and repair the damage that cancer had done. She had several lung nodules, and they avoided the surgery of the lungs because Sirena only had 60 percent lung compacity at the time. The doctors said scar tissue on the lungs would make breathing more difficult. For the next three years, she exhausted all the chemos multiple times. In May this year, because the cancer was so aggressive and it was not reacting to the chemo, they told us that Sirena had reached the last chapter of her life. She had the option to write her final chapter how she wanted. If she stayed on chemo, Sirena would be sick, or she could choose to have a quality of life and enjoy the time she had left with her family. She decided to have quality time. Sirena has not been able to work for the last four years, and I have taken a second job and worked seven days a week to make ends meet. I have taken a leave from my job to stay home to help her. The easy everyday tasks have become a great challenge for her. Things like showing, getting dressed, or even making a sandwich. These are things that most people take for granted. Recently Sirena had to be put into hospice care. She is on around-the-clock meds to control the pain and is on oxygen for 24 hours. I met Sirena in the sixth grade in 1982, so I have known her for over half my life. Our 29th wedding anniversary will be on the 27th of November 2022. I'm not just losing my wife, but my best friend. Anything you can donate would be greatly appreciated. God Bless!
