Siobhan’s healing journey

Hi Everyone,

 

My name is Zoe and I am fundraising for my beautiful best friend Siobhan Whelan who has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer.

 

Siobhan is originally from Ireland she is 29 years of age and has been living in Australia for 6 years on a temporarily residency visa. Siobhan is not entitled to support through the Australian medicare system due to not being a resident or citizen. On the 4th of October 2023 siobhan was diagnosed with stage 2A grade 3 triple positive invasive ductal carcinoma breast cancer. This has come to a huge shock to Siobhan and her loved ones. Siobhan has had to quit her job and move interstate to be surrounded by her friends and family here in Sydney during this difficult time.

 

Siobhan has undergone a lumpectomy surgery to remove the tumour but still leaving behind rogue circulating tumour cells in her body. Siobhan’s bills are quickly adding up between her hospital fees, consultation fees, specialist fees, medications and the cost of living. Siobhan has had to undergo IVF treatment due to her cancer being her2 positive (Hormone Positive). As she may enter early menopause during treatment.

 

The reasoning for setting up this page is in the hopes to help ease the financial burden from this unexpected life changing diagnosis that has landed on Siobhan.
