Hi, I’m Leni. I’m a single parent and a working photographer based in Melbourne. I’m raising funds to replace the engine in my car after a major mechanical failure that’s left me without transport or a way to work.
I bought the car six months ago. I did everything right: pre-purchase checks, full service straight after purchase, and regular maintenance. Despite that, the timing belt failed last week, and it’s caused full engine failure. The timing belt was only two years old, so this was completely unexpected. The only option now is a full engine replacement. The mechanic’s quote is $6,000.
This car is my lifeline. Without it, I can't get to photography jobs (many of which start early and are far from public transport), work shifts as a DoorDash driver to help cover bills and manage school drop-offs. I'll also struggle with isolation from my support networks.
Without a car, I can’t earn an income or keep things running at home. Buying a replacement vehicle isn’t an option. I can’t risk ending up with another second-hand car hiding costly problems.
If you can contribute anything or share my plea, I’d be incredibly grateful.
All funds will go to getting a replacement engine and the costs of installing it. I’ll post updates with quotes and progress as soon as I can.
Thanks for taking the time to read and help.
Leni
