Megan Roe is a dedicated single mother of two children (Carter 7, Blakelee 4) who will be homeless on August 19th if we don’t intervene. Her car was totaled months ago, leaving her unable to regularly commute to her job as an esthetician. An unexpected emergency surgery also hurt her finances. She was able to support her children through side jobs, then Covid-19 hit and she lost those as well.
Megan has not received any Covid-19 assistance: her stimulus check is still in limbo, the checks for her children were sent to their father in another state, and she has been unable to collect unemployment during this time. She’s had her savings to support her thus far, but her lease ended mid-July forcing her to exhaust the last of her resources and sell the bulk of her belongings to afford a monthly rate at a hotel for her and her children.
Megan has reached out to several organizations and charitable agencies, but the wait lists are long for local resources. She’s been told by these agencies that her only option at this time is to go to City Light, a local homeless shelter for women and children. Megan needs immediate assistance to prevent her and her children from slipping fully into homelessness.
Megan also needs assistance in finding a job and transportation. In addition to donations, she is desperately seeking employment – especially work from home options as she can’t currently afford child care and lacks regular transportation. Any and all employment leads are greatly appreciated.
Affordable housing will be her next step. Idaho has a low supply of rentals and prices have skyrocketed over the last few years. If you are aware of open rentals – please send them.
Megan’s #1 focus has always been her children, and she has been successfully raising them by herself for years. She is not the type to ask for assistance, but she is at a point where she needs help from the community to get back on her feet.
