Single mother of 3 daughters loses home to arson
Donation protected
Last Saturday, Christian Silvers’ house was set on fire at approximately 2:15-2:30 in the morning while she slept. Although Christian made it out of the house (and thankfully her three daughters, Persephone (14), Winter and Halen (both 10) were not at home), the family’s beloved cats, Rupi and Gink, died in the fire. Their home, which Christian’s great-grandfather Luther built with his own hands, was a total loss and, but for a few personal items, nothing in the house is salvageable.
Unfortunately, the family did not have renter’s insurance, and Christian must replace everything, down to her own eyeglasses. For the time being, Christian and her daughters are staying with family while they get their bearings and slowly begin to rebuild their lives.
Both the Gaston County Police and the Gaston County Fire Marshall have concluded that the fire was the result of arson, but they have not yet made an arrest, and the family cannot say much since the investigation is ongoing. As you can imagine, although losing everything they own is devastating in and of itself, it is particularly heart wrenching and terrifying to know that the devastation (and in fact injury) was intentional.
Christian and her daughters need our help and support. As details begin to emerge and the true horror of how and why this tragedy occurred begins to surface, this family, after losing everything, now finds themselves living in a state of constant fear and sorrow. If you are able to give, please consider contributing to this GoFundMe to help get the Silvers family back on their feet. If you are not able to give, I nevertheless ask that you keep Christian, Persephone, Winter, and Halen in your thoughts and prayers.
