Single mother of 2 with stage 5 kidney disease

Hi there, my name is Charity. In February 2023 my best friend Jana Reff was diagnosed with stage five kidney disease. Since her diagnosis she has had to travel and attend several specialist appointments several hours away from home. She had a fistula put in last week so she can start getting dialysis 3x per week in Evelyth, MN. Recently though, I can see that she's becoming much weaker with her kidneys only functioning at 10%. Due to the circumstances with her health she is currently unable to work and has been struggling to support her two children whilst making all of these medical trips.

On July 6th she has a follow up to her fistula procedure and to get the staples removed in Duluth,MN.

July 25th for the ultrasound on her arm will determine if the circulation where her fistula was put in. Also in Duluth,MN

July 31st-1st Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN to see if she can get on the transplant list.

These are just her known next few appointments for now. Once she starts dialysis it will be three trips per week to Evelyth, MN and home.

A little bit about Jana,

Jana is one of the kindest souls I have ever met. She has been my rock for so many years now. This woman would give the shirt off her back to help a complete stranger. Please help to ease some of her burden during this very difficult time.

UPDATE - 7-6-23

Traveled to Duluth this morning to have staples removed from fistula procedure and follow up. Jana is tired but in good spirits she would like to thank everyone for all of the support through this difficult time.
