I’m not someone who typically asks for help but I feel like my family is out of options.

Over the last year, my mother has been going through a very challenging divorce and custody battle. Things have gotten exponentially worse in the last few months and we are asking for any guidance, resources, advice, etc.

On Monday, April 17th, 2023, my mother was ordered to move out of her home on or by June 15th, 2023. (57 days from now) Her ex-husband is kicking her out of the home she has lived in for 20 years, the home that she brought her youngest 2 children home to.

This is typically unheard of in California but on March 14, 2023, we found out through the San Diego County Recorder that the home my mother knew as his, was actually purchased in the name of his family trust. This in turn means she never had rights to the house from the beginning. Learning this was devastating.

He is also coming after her for full custody of my 10 yr old sister. He is making egregious claims against my mother that she has been forced to (successfully) prove wrong however he has not been held accountable in any way.

After a meeting with FCS, where any and all concerns were addressed by both parties and action plans were created to stay within agreeable parameters, he still refused to 50/50 and doubled down on pursuing full custody.

We are already seeing signs of parentification and I am very worried about the inappropriate things that are being said in her presence. I can speak to the inappropriate things that were said in my presence when I was her age by this same individual. There are also some concerns about her nutrition, hygiene, and a questionable sleeping arrangement.

We have notified our lawyer about all of these concerns but it is hard to communicate with them when the fees are so steep.

This case has already cost us 10k and our lawyer is asking for another 8k to pursue the evidentiary trial that he is adamant about. We have been completely bled dry and are up against some deep family pockets. We worry this is all just a ploy to out-money us.

I have decided to set up a GoFundMe account on behalf of my mother. Any and all proceeds would go towards our lawyer fees and/or moving my mom into a new home. Again, reaching out for help, especially financial help, is something that makes us feel incredibly uncomfortable. Any information about the following is just as valuable to us,

⁃ Entry-level jobs within the North County area of San Diego that will give a chance to a homemaker of 20 years
