Single mother in need of heart surgery

Hi! My name is Kristie Gerstenberg, and I am here today to help my step-sister pay for her much-needed heart surgery. Becky Laudenslager, only 49 years old, has been living with an ascending aortic aneurysm that was detected in July 2019. Since then, it has increased in size which further weakens the aorta (the main artery in your body). If an aortic aneurysm ruptures, it can cause life-threatening bleeding. Her doctor feels that with her family history of aneurysms and small body size, she is at risk for an adverse event within the next year. Becky is raising her 19-year-old Alex, working, and taking college classes. She does have health insurance which will cover some of her medical expenses, but recovery will, unfortunately, leave her without an income. She also had to make the difficult decision to schedule surgery (April 24) before she will be able to complete this semester of school.
