Single Mother Facing Multiple Surgeries

Life is hard. We all have our ups and downs. Sometimes, we all need a little help to get through.

A very dear friend of mine is currently going through that kind of situation right now. She is a single mom working three jobs to support herself and her children ages 7, 12, and 19. Her father has passed, her abusive mother cut ties, and she doesn't have the ability to get a loan for the amount she needs to make it through.

She needs to go on Short-Term Disability for her health issues. It's going to be impossible for her to pay her bills, the medical costs, and take care of her family with only the money she will get from her Short-Term Disability. She will probably end up losing everything except her primary job due to the medical issues and having to be out for her medical problems.

Her second and third jobs do not pay short term disability. Her primary job only pays 60% of her current salary and it has a cap. On top of that, her insurance plan has a very high deductible, and she has to have three surgeries this year.

One of the surgeries has to happen within the next few days. It would have happened immediately, but she has also been sick for months. She has to get rid of her current infection before she can have her gallbladder removed. Things are dire, and she is at her wit's end.

Her other surgeries need to be done as soon possible after she heals from the gallbladder surgery. She needs have a surgery to fix her breathing issues, and she needs another surgery to fix the issues that she is having with her reproductive system.

None of these surgeries can be put off. There are other immediate expenses that have to be covered as well. Without going into too many details two of the children are in therapy for trauma. They have to continue those sessions. She has also gotten stuck with a loan from an ex who ran off and ghosted her and stuck her with the bill which means that she can't get the help she needs with another loan.

While I don't personally believe that you have to be a good person to deserve medical care - there isn't a better person out there than Shamariah. Her love for her family, her community, and the people around her is astronomical. She is a fierce advocate, and she is even an emergency foster parent for the local pets in her area. She would give anyone the shirt off her back, and I've seen her do it time and time again over the years.

This time, she is the one who needs the help. I do want to drive that point home. This is not a want. She. Desperately. Needs. Help.

So, as someone who knows her, loves her, and has been the recipient of her assistance when my own life was falling apart - I'm asking you to help her. It doesn't matter if it's $5 or $500. Anything you can do will help. I can't think of anyone else who deserves it more.
