Single Mom Saved Kids from Car Explosion, Now Needs New Car

This morning, my mother’s car exploded while she was driving.

Paulette is in her 70s, still working hard every day to care for others.

In the backseat were two little boys, both under five years old, who she watches as a nanny. She had just dropped off her two daughters, one at work and one at high school, when it happened.

By the grace of God, she got everyone out safely before the car went up in flames. It is a total loss.

My mom has spent her life giving to children. She raised four kids as a single mom, welcomed others into her home, and taught special needs students for decades. Even after retiring, she kept giving by nannying preschoolers and working in youth ministry with toddlers at her church.

More than 16 years ago, she made the brave decision to adopt two young girls as a single older parent, fully aware they might need extra support after being removed from their biological parents. She has carried that responsibility with endless patience, love, and strength.

She lives in a rural part of Dallas, Texas, where a car is not a luxury, it is survival.

Without it, she cannot get to work, take her daughters to school, or make it to doctor appointments. No car means no income, no transportation, and no way to keep going.

What makes it even harder is that she had just finished paying that car off, the first time in years she could breathe without a car payment.

And now, in an instant, it is gone, with no savings to replace it.

We are raising funds to help her get into a simple, reliable car so she can keep working, caring for her family, and rebuilding after this terrifying loss.
