Hi, my name is Amanda. I’m a newly single 44-year-old mom. After a divorce, I’m doing my best to care for my teenage kids. Until recently, I have been barely keeping my head above water and then the unexpected happened…
This week, I lost my job without warning. I’ve always worked hard to provide for my kids, but until I find a new job, I honestly do not know how I’m going to cover rent, bills, and basic needs for my kids like food and gas. Being a single parent comes with its own challenges—and now losing my income has made everything so much more overwhelming.
On top of all of this, I’m slowly losing my eyesight, so finding a new job isn’t going to be easy for me with my vision disability. I have Malattia Leventinese (also known as Doyne honeycomb retinal dystrophy-DHRD), which is a rare genetic condition that will eventually cause me to go blind. I’m already visually impaired, but I am considered legally blind with how bad my up-close vision is. Because of this, I cannot work certain jobs that most people can.
I’m reaching out to ask for help. Anything you can give—even just words of encouragement, prayers, or a share—means more than I can say. Every little bit I receive will go directly toward rent, utilities, groceries, and keeping some stability for my kids.
Thank you for reading, and thank you for caring. I know things are tough for so many people right now, and I appreciate any support more than I can express.
With love,
Amanda
