Single Mom Needs Community Care
Donation protected
Hi there! This fundraiser is to raise money to help Justine B. during a time of financial hardship. Justine is a hardworking ESL teacher and sex/relationship educator. She is also a queer single mother who lives with disability and chronic pain; she is a beloved matriarch and caretaker of many queers and misfits in the London community. Justine just completed a Bachelor’s of Education and is in the process of applying to MA programs in psychology so that she can pursue work as a therapist and further her career in sex/relationship education and advocacy (her lifelong goal).
However, after using up her savings and exhausting her options for loans, she now finds herself in a difficult financial position. Her usual summer vocation did not pan out as expected. She is in the process of seeking alternative forms of employment but finding a job (especially one suited for her disabilities/chronic pain), getting on-boarded and trained, and waiting for the first paycheck is a long process and Justine does not currently have the funds to cover her basic expenses this month. Justine does so much caretaking for the folks around her, and now she’s in need of our collective care.
We are hoping to raise $4000 in order to keep Justine afloat while she continues to look for employment. This money will be used for rent, utilities/bills, groceries, transportation, student loan payments, and basic living expenses for her beloved child, Kahlo.
If you are not able to donate at this time, it would be helpful if you could share the link to this fundraiser to your friends/family/networks. Additionally, if you know of any job opportunities (especially but not limited to those in education, ESL, gender, sexuality, and relationships) it would be very helpful if you could reach out to Justine with those opportunities.
