Single Mom Facing Medical Crisis & Rent Emergency

Hi, my name is Alyson. I am a single mother of two young children, and I am currently facing a serious medical and financial crisis.
After recovering twice in the last year from a messy divorce, where everything was taken, and I had to move states twice, I am now struggling.
Over the past few months, my health has significantly declined. Due to getting Sepsis pneumonia and having a mass on my lung, I experience chronic coughing, shortness of breath, body aches, and frequent chest pain. My mobility is now limited, and I use a cane to walk. Because of these ongoing health issues, I have been unable to return to full-time work.
I do everything I can when my body allows, working 30 minutes away while managing shared custody of my children on a week-on/week-off schedule. I currently receive less than $300 per month in food assistance to care for my two kids. I have depleted my entire savings just trying to survive.
At this moment, I am over two months behind on rent (more than $2,000 owed) and over $500 behind on utilities and essential bills. Although my apartment management has been understanding and is currently working with me, I am still at risk of losing our housing if I cannot catch up soon.
This is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do—asking for help. I have always worked hard and been independent, but I can’t get through this season alone anymore. I’ve tried doing DoorDash, as well as picking up other odd jobs, such as babysitting when I can, and as my health permits. But I am truly needing help in this season, especially with the snow being here.
Every single donation will go directly toward:
- Back rent to prevent eviction
- Utilities to keep services on for my children
- Transportation to medical appointments and work
- Basic necessities for my family
If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser is just as powerful. Thank you for reading our story, for caring, and for helping us stay afloat during this incredibly difficult season.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
— Alyson
