Hi there - we are Carey & Tara.
If you have lived in or around Streetsville (Mississauga, ON) at any point over the last 30 or so years, you just may have come face to face with one of our dearest BFFs, Julie Drumm Walker, a devoted mother, daughter, caregiver, sister and friend.
Unfortunately, we have very sad news to share:
Recently, after experiencing sudden health issues, doctors confirmed a later stage cancer diagnosis. And while treatment options are in the midst of unfolding, the road ahead will involve intensive medical care, frequent appointments, and recovery time.
Julie will be unable to continue working, let alone at the pace required to sustain multiple jobs which creates an immediate financial strain for the multi-generational household that depends entirely on her income.
This busy, single mom wears so many hats - not only taking good care of her own, immediate family (daughter, son and mother) but also the wider circle of family, friends and clients that surround her. By day, she may have helped you get your personal or business affairs in order with the help of Bob and Lyndsay at Romac Financial Group, a team she feels truly blessed to be part of and grateful to work alongside. By night, she may have poured you a pint at Cuchulain's Irish Pub (a local treasure of a watering hole) . Maybe she helped you plan, prepare, cook and decorate for a special event you had with family and friends - just because she knew you needed an extra hand AND because she's a wiz at event planning (have you seen her balloon art?!). Perhaps you were one of the many Streetsville business owners who leaned on Julie through the years (playing an active role with the local BIA) to help promote your business. Or you may have called on Julie for a friendly and non-judgemental ear to listen and help you through something because Julie always has everyone's best interests at heart.
Well, if you know Julie, you know she is all this and so much more to countless people. She is the consummate problem-solver, care-giver and general nurturer to all those who come in contact with her. But while she steps up to the plate for everyone time and time again, she never asks for anything in return. We know that Julie is doing her best to problem solve through this situation, and while it's not in her DNA to ask for help, we know that she sure could use it with the blow of her recent diagnosis.
That's why we are asking for your help:
Funds raised will help ease the financial burden during this critical time and allow Julie to focus on her health while continuing to care for her family.
Support will help cover:
-Rent, utilities, and basic living expenses
-Groceries and household necessities
-Transportation to and from medical appointments
-Family support needs
-Out-of-pocket medical costs not fully covered
-Time to rest, heal, and recover without constant financial stress
This support will provide stability and breathing room at a time when everything feels uncertain and overwhelming.
How You Can Help:
Any contribution — no matter the amount — is deeply appreciated and makes a meaningful difference. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page is an incredibly powerful way to help.
Most of all, we ask for your thoughts, prayers, and positive energy for Julie and her family as they navigate this very difficult chapter.
We thank you in advance for helping lift some of the weight from her shoulders when she needs it most .
With deep gratitude,
Carey & Tara
