My name is Lauren and I am a single mother of one 5 year old boy named Phoenix. In late August my father Richard contracted COVID-19. By September 7th he was hospitalized and I was looking at being fatherless within hours if his condition didn't improve. On top of his life threatening condition he was looking at losing his left leg from the hip down. With a surgery to remove clotting the doctors were able to save the top portion of his leg. By the 14th, my son's birthday, my father went into surgery to amputate from above the knee. At this point I knew my father would live if the surgery went well but all of our lives would be changed forever. I have since taken him into my home and he is recovering well but with recovery comes expenses. This year has been a tough one financially to begin with. Supporting a family on one income of $13 an hour is trying in the best of conditions. With pandemic conditions on top of my father's medical care and moving all his belongings from his home my ability to take care of all of this alone is becoming more and more difficult. We are in serious need of generosity from the community and anyone willing to lend a hand. It's never easy to admit you need help but in order to properly care for those I love I implore you to help me and my family in this challenging time.
