Steun samen met ons de slachtoffers van de vulkaanuitbarsting in Guatemala: de mensen die jouw kop koffie mogelijk hebben gemaakt, hebben nu je hulp nodig. Elke bijdrage is welkom.
Op 3 juni 2018 werd Guatemala opgeschrikt door de heftigste uitbarsting van de Fuego vulkaan sinds 100 jaar. Meer dan een miljoen mensen zijn getroffen door lava stromen, as en modderstromen. Het dodental staat op 110 en loopt nog elke dag op, er zijn honderden mensen vermist.
De meeste mensen in het getroffen gebied zijn voor hun levensonderhoud afhankelijk van de koffie plantages in de regio. De korte en lange termijn gevolgen van deze vulkaan uitbarsting zijn voor hen nog extreem onzeker.
Ook de koffieplantages van onze koffie producent en goede vriend Ricardo Zelaya, die met zijn familie al jaren koffie verbouwd in Antigua, zijn getroffen. Medewerkers van de mill zijn omgekomen, koffieplanten zijn bedekt onder een dikke laag vulkanische as en wegen zijn onbegaanbaar.
We vragen je hulp om geld in te zamelen zodat we bij kunnen dragen in de wederopbouw van de plantages en het opnieuw bouwen van de huizen die verloren zijn gegaan.
Het geld dat we ophalen gaat naar Ricardo Zelaya, die samen met andere koffieproducenten en ondernemers stukken land opkoopt en nieuwe huizen voor de slachtoffers bouwt.
100% van het opgehaalde bedrag zal worden gebruikt voor het beschreven doel. We geven volledig inzicht in het gebruik van het opgehaalde bedrag en zullen regelmatig updates verstrekken over de voortgang van de wederopbouw.
Wij zijn Single Estate Coffee Roasters, koffiebranders uit Nederland, en werken sinds 2010 met de Zelaya familie samen.

Help us support the victims of the Fuego Volcano disaster in Guatemala: the people behind your daily cup of coffee are in desperate need of your help. Every little bit helps.
On June 3 2018, the Fuego Volcano in Guatemala erupted in the most violent way since over a hundred years. Over a million people are affected by hot lava streams, dense smoke and ash and mudslides. The number of fatalities at this point is 75, and rising every day. Hundreds are missing.
Most people in the affected area depend on the coffee industry for their livelihood. The short – and long term consequences of the disaster are still extremely unsure.
Our close friend and coffee producer, Ricardo Zelaya, his family and his coffee farms in the Antigua region and surrounding areas were also affected by the eruption. Several of his employees have lost their lives, coffee plants are covered in a thick layer of ash and roads have become impassable.
We ask your help to raise money so we can contribute in the reconstruction of farms and rebuild the homes that have been lost.
We will donate the money to Ricardo Zelaya, who, together with other coffee producers, will buy pieces of land and build new homes for the people who lost their homes.
100% of the funds received will be used to help the victims as we have outlined above. We will provide full transparency of use of monies, and provide regular updates on how your donations have helped the people of Guatemala.
