Hi! My name is Stacey, and I’m fundraising for a nonprofit charity called the Grumeti Fund. I will be helping raise funds for education and programs for girls in rural Tanzania.

Your contribution will help fund the following empowerment initiatives for girls:

Scholarships for 80 local girls in secondary school, vocational studies and university

Empowerment events for 5,000 high school girls-with accommodation provided

18 month’s supply of sanitary towels for 5,000 high school girls so that they can attend school with dignity and pride

Mentorship programs

Life skills training

Some of the lasting impacts of these initiatives include more hours spent at school with easier access to sanitary pads. There is more awareness and education around harmful cultural practices like genital mutilation and early marriages, giving girls more opportunity to make a different choice for their lives. Scholarship distribution is more balanced giving girls more access to higher education. The boys are more supportive of their friends and sisters, fostering a more respectful and inclusive daily environment and a brighter future for everyone.

Part of the Grumeti Fund’s program includes offering an experience with a purpose. With this donation, I will have the opportunity to participate in an all-women running event through the Singita Grumeti Fund’s private reserve in the Serengeti in Tanzania. It’s not just any run, however, it’s 3 half-marathons in 3 days. It will be guided and include vehicle support and opportunities to view the animals in the area each day. Note-This experience is not paid for by the fundraiser. All proceeds are donated to Grumeti Fund.

On completion of the run, participants will have the option to learn more about the Grumeti Fund’s community and conservation programmes.

These programmes include a career fair for local high school girls, an option to visit the Anti-Poaching Canine Unit and take a tour of the new centre for Research and Innovation for the Serengeti Ecosystem (RISE). The Grumeti Fund has done a lot of conservation work to bring their large reserve area back to a thriving ecosystem.
