Simten's Medical and Family Care

On Saturday evening May 10th, Simten, an amazing animal lover, human and mom was struck by a car while riding her scooter at night. A resident of Fairmount, Philadelphia and team member of The Pet Nanny for 3 years, Simten received emergency brain surgery and is still on a ventilator and unconscious at this time. She is expected to recover but the degree of recovery is unknown. As fellow PN team members authoring this campaign, we miss her dearly. Simten’s love for her work - drawing pictures for clients or writing poetic comments - as well as her love for family makes her so special with so many of us. There’s also no one who can outdo her work ethic.

Many people know that Simten was a dedicated pet care professional and loved animals of all kinds. Some of you may have had her take care of your pets. Her injuries are severely debilitating. She will not be able to work in the foreseeable future, but we hope for her eventual recovery.

Simten’s overall recovery will be long term with expensive and extensive care, rehabilitation, therapy, medicine, and adjustments to a home routine that used to care for her son, dog, and many cats. Honestly, we don’t know what the future holds for Simten in great detail, but we do know insurance only covers so much and we want to help her family as much as possible during this extremely difficult time.

We are asking for donations of any size, large or small, that we can collect to help her, her husband and her son, through this ordeal. There will be medical bills and other expenses, so we have created a fund that will help with that burden.

We appreciate anything you can help out with to provide for Simten, her son's, and her pets' care, and we hope Simten makes a full recovery.
