Simran's Gift

Donation protected
Our beautiful Simran was born on the 12th of June 2015. Two months after her birth Simran was diagnosed with Mowat Wilson syndrome - a rare genetic condition which causes delayed development, seizures and can affect different organs in the body. Early on we were told that Simran's development would be very limited. It would be harder and take much longer to achieve the 'normal milestones.' Simran had a weak immune system which meant she was in and out of hospital frequently, she was diagnosed with heart defects, brain anomalies, visual impairment and at the age of 2 she began to have seizures. Against all odds Simran slowly learnt to roll, to sit up , then to bunny hop and finally to stand.  She learnt to hold her bottle and then to feed herself (and make a mess!). As she grew older Simran's awareness improved - she recognised her name and her surroundings.

For Simran's 3rd birthday we went on our first family holiday to Devon. She loved the sand and the cold spray of the water. She celebrated her special day in style with her two younger brothers. Four days later, our sweet happy girl passed away unexpectedly.

For all the disadvantages Simran was born with she continued to amaze us at every turn. She learnt to overcome so much with her characteristic flair and quiet determination.  She showed us what it means to be strong.

As parents, raising any child is hard but raising a child with "special needs" brought a whole new set of challenges. We realised early on that there was limited support available.  Treatments were expensive and equipment was priced at a premium because they are 'specialist.' We were fortunate enough to be able to provide Simran with what she needed. The thought of not being able to provide her with treatments or equipment that could have boosted her development massively would be devastating. Sadly there are many families who have children with similar conditions who are unable to cope financially. With your support these are the families we so desperately want to help.

Any donations, however small, would be greatly appreciated. In Simran's memory, please help her to help others.
