Simon's Wish

Words from Andrea;

From our first date over 20 years ago until his last days, Simon’s greatest quality was his love for his family. I’ve lost count of the number of times that he spoke of helping us, his Mum and Dad, and his brothers and sisters. It’s what drove his actions, it’s what made him passionate about being an entrepreneur. Its what led him to working so hard, and to keep on going through all the highs and lows of being a business owner.

The thing about Simon is, that whenever his family or friends felt pain, he would feel it right alongside with them. He always wanted to help in any way, shape or form he could. That leads me to Simon’s 3-year-old nephew, Michael – ‘Baby Michael’ as he would fondly refer to him.

Michael has an extremely rare form of brain malformation called Bilateral Polymicrogyria. He is a charming, loveable young boy, but the condition means he struggles with control of his mouth for eating, drinking, and speaking. It is a lifelong condition and battle that impacts Michael every single day.

Simon would speak about Michael constantly to anyone he met. He would share with friends and colleagues the story of Michael and his parents – His sister Felicity and her husband Brendan – and how proud he was of them for having strength in supporting their baby through all the challenges of his condition.

Simon shared Michael’s story in the hope that through his vast network and connections, he may one day find a way to help his nephew.

That was Simon’s wish - to help Michael and his family in whatever way they need. To help them access the support services and networks Michael needs for his journey in living life to it’s fullest.’
