Hi, my name is Anna and I'm raising money to help fund Simon's cancer treatment in Germany. Simon Phillips is my sister's fiance, and lives in Northern Ireland. In 2014 he was diagnosed with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma in his left salivary gland, it's a very rare and vicious cancer. He underwent surgery and radiotherapy back then, and was in remission for many years.
Unfortunately in July 2024 the same cancer came back in C4 section of the neck.
Because of the location, Simon needed 2 surgeries to stabilise the neck and prevent it from collapsing and potentially causing paralysis from neck down or death.
Scans in April 2025 showed 1 node in his left lung. August scan of the spine has shown that the tumor in C4 is starting to press on the spinal cord and that can cause paralysis. Simon underwent radiotherapy recently to hopefully stop it from happening. We will know more in December/January, once post-treatment scans are done.
Further scans in September 2025 showed the cancer has spread in his left lung and also to his liver.
At this stage NHS doctors can't do anything for Simon in relation to his liver.
We have found treatment at University Hospital in Frankfurt, that may be the only option he has to treat the liver tumor.
The treatment is called TACP and TACE. We have contacted them and sent all medical documentation, they think they can help - they would like to do a few sessions of TACP, followed by several TACE. It starves the tumors in the liver of oxygen and stops them from growing.
He may need up to 10 treatments, and each treatment costs approximately £5000. The sooner it can be started, the better. We would be grateful for every penny of help, as the overall cost is well beyond of what they can fund themselves.
