Hi, my name is Simonne and I recently lost my job. As someone who has worked non-stop (aside from maternity leave) since 2009, this is a really new and scary experience for me. I am a single mother to 2 beautiful daughters (13 and 8) and they're my whole world. I'm doing my best to remain strong, but the financial strain and worries are catching up to me.

Currently, we are facing every financial hardship imaginable: eviction, car loss, power turned off, phones turned off, internet turned off, and my unemployment has not been approved yet. I am terrified that we're about to lose our home. Being unemployed in 2025 is terrifying with everything being so expensive and the lack of resources. I am not one to just wait around for someone to help me as I prefer to be a self-sufficient person, but I honestly have nowhere else to turn. As parents, we would do anything to make sure that our kids have food on the table and a roof over their heads. I know that this situation is only temporary, and I have faith that we will come out on the other side stronger than before.
