This is Simone’s story…

We trapped Simone on one of the worst weather days of the year. We found her taking shelter from the torrential rain in the doorway of someone’s shed. She was a known stray in the area. We were told the cat, assumed to be male, had recently been picked up by a local rescue and given a five day antibiotic treatment for an abscess on neck.

The abscess hadn’t healed so she was booked into our vet’s where we realised he was a she and where she was treated with a long lasting antibiotic injection. Her abcess is now healed but our vet is concerned about Simone’s nose which looks like it may have either pre-cancerous changes to the skin or possibly squamous cell carcinoma. The other possibility is that it’s an autoimmune response which will be treatable with steroids.

She needs an urgent biopsy so that we know what we are dealing with. Squamous cell carcinoma is aggressive so we need to move fast in order to have the best possible chance of effective treatment.

In addition Simone’s teeth are in a terrible state, with her back teeth badly rotted and affecting her eating. These also need sorting sooner rather than later but first priority is a biopsy for her nose.

Our funds are very low as we have taken in several street cats recently with multiple health problems so our vet bills have been really high. This is why we are asking for help now to get Simone the treatment she needs. She is such a lovely cat who is friendly and appreciative of being indoors, she has been badly let down by humans and we want to try to put that right.
