Hi, this fundraiser is for my daughter, Simone O'Kelly, 16 years old.

She has been mountain biking competitively for a total of 3 years. In this short period of time she has progressed from being a novice rider to finishing her season with a third place in the British Downhill Series in the juvenile female category in 2024. She's currently sponsored by her local club, Glencullen Adventure Park in the Dublin Mountains. This year she will be racing in the European Downhill Series around Europe which consists of a series of 6 races. Placing in the top 5 in any of these races will qualify Simone to ride in the UCI Downhill MTB World Cup Series.

The qualifying races will take place in Santiago de Besteiros Portugal Fort William, Scotland, Semmering in Austria, Aprica Italy, Les Orres France and Kranjska Gora Slovakia from April through to September.

Each race costs an average of 1,500 euro between flights, travel costs, accommodation, kit for the season(helmet, trousers, jersey, shoes), car hire, petrol, bike tyres and insurance.

Simone has been working hard at her biking for the last year including getting up some mornings at 5.20am to go to the gym before school.
