In Loving Memory of Simona Kovchazova– A True Fighter
Cancer has affected all of us in some way—through our families, friends, coworkers, or loved ones. I’m here today to honour my beautiful mother, Simona, who passed away on June 27, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
In 2015, my mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 tonsil cancer. I’ll never forget the moment she walked into my room and shared the news. Despite the odds, she fought with everything she had and eventually went into remission.
But our relief was short-lived. During what was supposed to be her final check-up, doctors discovered a rare, non-benign tumour known as a Desmoid tumor—a disease so rare that limited research and treatments exist for it. Despite undergoing multiple tests and procedures, her condition continued to worsen, and her pain became overwhelming.
As if that weren’t enough, a subsequent check-up revealed another devastating blow: she had developed Stage IIIC melanoma. Still, she never gave up. She fought bravely through every setback with the support of the incredible doctors, nurses, and staff at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
My mom was a true warrior—an advocate for research, and a source of strength and love to everyone who knew her. Though her battle came to an end, her legacy and her fight live on.
I’ve created this fundraiser in her honour. All proceeds will go directly to the Princess Margaret Cancer Research Centre to support innovation, research, and hope for others facing rare and aggressive forms of cancer.
No amount is too small. Every donation makes a difference. Let’s work together to find better treatments—and one day, a cure.
Thank you for supporting this cause in memory of my hero—my mom.
