Simon is a bit tuckered out. But who can blame him—he’s been through a lot! This sweet and petite beagle was found by some superhero kids, wandering the woods all by himself. That’s quite the harrowing experience for any young pup, but we think Simon is 10+ years old and at least partially blind. Thankfully, the local ACO contacted us for help, and so now Simon is with Happy Paws Rescue. Whether he wound up out there accidentally or intentionally, we’ll never know. But at this point, it doesn’t even matter—we’re committed to making Simon’s golden years as bright as possible!

Once safely in foster care, we realized that although Simon would not stop wagging his tail, he had significant eye issues. He was unable to open them and they appeared to cause him discomfort. We brought him straight to an ophthalmologist who determined that Simon had two ulcerated corneas and eye infections, and that there was no guarantee his vision would be restored. Additionally, upon evaluation it was noted he had abnormal blood work, enlarged lymph nodes, a heart murmur, severe dental disease, and some skin issues. We opted for further diagnostic work up including an ultrasound, repeat blood and urine analysis, and multiple checkups.

As we continue to care for Simon, we know he will require additional diagnostic follow up, at minimum a cytology of the enlarged lymph nodes, a neuter, and a dental cleaning with extractions. Happy Paws Rescue is not giving up on Simon, but we do need your help to cover his extensive medical bills.

The veterinary costs to care for Simon are estimated to be $6,000. Will you be Simon's super hero and consider making a donation of any size to help this little dog?
