Simon Curliss was recently diagnosed with an extremely rare and aggressive form of cancer called Intrahepatic Bile Duct Cancer, with just more than 8000 cases occurring in North America annually. It is virtually undetectable until it has been fully metastasized, and in Simon's case it has already shown up in many of his internal organs. This form of cancer is usually contracted by older people who have often been involved in heavy smoking or have been dealing with diabetes. Simon has proven once again to make sure that he remains unique however as he is the only child case that doctors know of to have had it at the young age of 6 years old. With no ability to receive treatments in his hometown of Medicine Hat and so many unknowns about how to treat him, Simon and his family will be primarily based out of Calgary, where he will begin his chemo treatments. Simon is a fun-loving, cheerful little warrior who is trying to come to terms with what is happening in his life but continues to try to keep his spirits high despite everything he and his family are experiencing. Because of the rarity of this kind of cancer and no other cases in a child so young, there are lots of unanswered questions and even more prayers for a miracle for his recovery.
