Simon and Kamini Need Urgent Medical Treatment
Donation protected
My name is Phoebe, I’ve had the privilege of working closely as a personal assistant for the most incredible, loving, generous, faith-filled, strong and courageous family: The Ives.
They are a family of 4: Simon and Kamini, and their daughters Ravi and Elysabeth. Their story is one that is filled with miracles and generosity, starting with their daughters. Ravi was miraculously and legally adopted from Cambodia. Elysabeth was miraculously conceived after years of infertility. What they have done for others, as a family and as individuals, could never be summed up in a short GoFundMe plea.
The Ives live for others - they’ve done aid and development in Cambodia for 15+ years, and have been living in Cambodia for the last 3+ years to run their human trafficking prevention organization, Freedom International. The Ives’ heart is to warn every Cambodian they possibly can before they are tricked, trafficked and sold into slavery. They have already warned 2 million Cambodians, and are just getting started. (Visit freedominternational.org to learn more about what they’ve done)
Before moving to Cambodia, they lived in Australia, giving their lives both for the aid and development in Cambodia and for everyone they came in contact with in Australia. The stories of their generosity and practical support are unending.
I have watched each and every one of them empty their bank accounts and piggy banks to give to others in need. I have seen them sacrifice their time, energy, and money to provide meals for those with nothing to eat, take people to the emergency room at all hours, bring the struggling back from the verge of suicide. Getting urgent medical care for a girl who was sexually abused, stopping the gang drugging of a helpless girl, getting a stranded Grandma back to England during covid lockdowns, getting an orphaned male with lukemia treatment in India, raising funds for 7 trafficked Bangladeshi men in Cambodia to get flights back home. The Ives family give everything they have and do everything they can for any person who is in need. I couldn’t tell you the number of times they have encouraged me, given me money for groceries when I haven’t had anything, provided a safe place when I’ve been struggling. Without the Ives family, myself and so many others would be lost, starving, or worse.
After everything they’ve done, everything they’ve given, the Ives are now in critical and urgent need themselves.
Simon, the father of the family, has been sick for 7+ months and housebound and bed-ridden with long covid for several months. Unable to work to provide for his family, unable to get better despite advice and treatment from 2 American doctors, unable to receive the proper medical treatment here in Cambodia, his condition is at a critical point in need of treatment in Australia.
Kamini, the mother of the family, has recently received the news from a specialist in Singapore that she needs an urgent biopsy test for breast cancer to see if her calcifications are malignant. Once again, the specific procedure and treatment she needs isn’t available in Cambodia, so she also needs urgent medical care in Australia.
The family is in a desperate situation. The medical care they critically need isn’t available to them, and they don’t have the funds to get back to Australia for treatment.
Please help us. If the Ives have ever been there for you when you’ve been in need or if you know anyone they’ve impacted, if you’ve ever faced a chronic illness or cancer yourself, would you please consider giving? It’s our turn to give back to the Ives, to give them the same help and miracle they’ve given to us and to countless others.
For the 20 years of their marriage that Simon and Kamini lived in Australia, they were always the first to initiate and mobilize the help people needed. Organizing money, goods, and services for: people who’d suddenly and tragically lost their spouses, a family who’d lost their parents, and a family who’d lost everything in a fire. Welcoming people into their home for meals and holidays, giving meals and groceries to those struggling, renovating houses, visiting the sick in the hospital, helping an elderly man broken down on the highway, being there for people in the highs and lows of life; assisting with funerals, and giving practically to those coming home with new babies.
Will you be a part of their miracle? Will you make a way for their family to get the healing they need? Please donate today as the Ives can’t do this on their own.
